Personal Story of Jules Grant: Parenting Experience during the Pandemic

Like many small business owners, the pandemic hit me quite hard. Many clients canceled their assignments or just simply froze budgets at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. So from one to another week, my everyday life changed a lot.

My usually busy schedule - coaching, workshops, facilitation - was replaced by taking care of our 4-year-old daughter full time, who like most of the children around the world didn’t go to childcare anymore. So there I was worrying about her, my business, and the general situation where everyone breathing and especially coughing is a potential threat to your families’ health. I never got a minute to reflect and understand what was going on and how I might turn it around. It was a total loss of control and I felt a lot of resistance.

A friend recommended an Inner Work-Out session and afterwards it was the first time in a while I felt somehow sorted and left with a clear mind. It was simply relieving. Because it was such a game-changer for me I became involved with the Inner Work-Out. What a blessing. Now, almost one year later, Amir, who has a little daughter too, and I host the Inner Work-Out sessions for working parents. We feel there is a need to support working parents particularly as their challenges can become simply overwhelming. It’s very beautiful to see how it gives parents a moment to breathe, reflect and just unwind. The quick one-hour sessions during lunchtime are manageable to fit into most schedules. Seeing all those people connecting and supporting each other is elevating.

Jules wrote about the Inner Work-Out in German too. Click here to check it out.
